Long time pâtissier, Laurent Watrin recently passed over his corner Moulin de Rosa to M Jacques. It is still the only boulangerie along the southern tail of Rue de Turenne. Just two blocks from Place des Vosges, it stays busy not only from local lunchtime crowds but tourists spilling out from Rue des Francs Bourgeois and you will be lucky if anything is left by 4pm. But quality is what brings you back. They use 2 ribbons of rich Valrhona in their flavorful pain au chocolate, made especially flaky by the high end Lescure butter for consistently crunchy bites when oven fresh. Their viennoiserie sets the bar for others in the neighborhood.
Other carefully crafted pastries showcased in the window change daily but the lemon layer cake is superb. The multi fruit and seed bread is my favorite although often disappears by late afternoon. It is so dense with goodies that they recommend slicing it for you with their electric cutter as home knives will likely crumble the bread. In case they’ve run out try their dense norvégien multi grain which is filled with various seeds and whole grains and to me has character and complexity rather than bread without anything inside, although their crisp baguettes are as good as any.- Parking

Getting a bad croissant (tourist’s grade) in Paris is easy, but to find a real excellent tasty buttery and light croissant became a real HARD thing. Look no further: this is the place ! (Take it from the grandson of a baker🥐)

A great boulangerie - not a lot of fancy stuff but delicious basics. The seeded baguette is superb, and the almond pain au chocolat is addictive.

I went to multiple bakeries in Paris in search for the best croissant during my stay, and while I admit I didn't manage to eat that many, this was hands down the best. Their croissant had a buttery taste with a crispy crunchy outside with many layers!! but a soft and moist inside... Perfect! Everything I want in a croissant that no other bakeries seem to have had managed? I will definitely be back 🥐

Best pain au chocolate I’ve ever had (and I’m picky). Wish I’d bought more!
Best croissants I have ever had in my entire life. Sandwiches were also delicious. I come here every morning to learn new French words. Staff is super understanding and helps me learn a few words every day.

The lady was so nice, and even though I tried my best to speak French, she would speak English to us. She was very nice. The pastries I tried were Croissants, Pain au Chocolat and Almond Croissants. They were the best I tried while there in France. Once I found this spot we went almost daily! I highly recommend this bakery!
I went here in 2018 and i still compare the croissants here to any other croissant i have ever eaten. Le Moulin de Rosa has the best croissants in the history of croissants. The next time I go to.paris, this is my first stop. My knees buckled when I took my first bite.

I go there once or twice a week to get my croissant and pain au chocolat. The best in Paris in my opinion, soft like a cloud with just the right amount of crisp. The patisseries aren't the best in town but still worth a try.

We live in the US but have been to Paris 3 times since 2014, the year we discovered Le Moulin de Rosa. Since then we always visit the bakery as much as our tummies can handle when in Paris. Sometimes I dream of hopping on a plane just to be there in time for the bakery to open the next morning. It's all delicious. It's all mouth-watering. It's just the essence of Paris delicacy!

(Two days earlier: “I stopped by this lovely boulangerie and tried a “Paris Brest” (my friends told me I had to try this pastry because it was bicycle-related!). It was delicious, and Monsieur Watrin was friendly and welcoming. Now that I’ve seen the different Google Map posts about the bread, I will have to return for a baguette and round loaf. Since I’m in Paris for two months, I have plenty of time to try everything! Yummm.”Visited in March 2023
